Governor in Council
The Governor General on the advice of Cabinet is responsible for appointing individuals to the Governor in Council (GIC). Appointments are key for various public institutions, including commissions, Crown corporations, and boards. GIC appointees are responsible for shaping policy, governance, and decisions that impact Canadians.
The Privy Council Office and Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) support the process for appointing the Employment Insurance Board of Appeal (EIBOA) Executive Head, Regional Coordinators, and the EIBOA presiding members.
